DAY 1 – ARRIVAL (D)
We depart the airport in Toulouse and travel south towards the Spanish
border. Our destination is Catalonia, a region that was once independent
and today still retains its distinctive culture and language. Our base
will be the lakeside town of Banyoles.
DAY 2 – BESALU (BD)
Today we visit the medieval town of Besalu, dating back to the 10th
century. Renowned for its great architectural value, the town’s
buildings and the old bridge make up one of the most notable monumental
legacies of the medieval period in Catalonia.
DAY 3 – GIRONA (BD)
The lovely city of Girona is our destination today. A medieval city
built along the banks of the Onyar River, with narrow streets and
wonderful historic buildings including the magnificent Gothic Cathedral.
Walk along the ancient wall that runs around the edge of the old
quarter, visit the Arab Baths or simply enjoy a coffee or a glass of
wine in one of the many outdoor cafes.
DAY 4 – FIGUERES –
SALVADOR DALI (BD)
We visit the small town of Figueres, the birthplace of the surrealist
Salvador Dali and now home to the Dali Museum. The spectacular museum is
the main attraction in the town and not to be missed. Later we take a
drive to L’Escala, a lovely little unspoiled town on the coast.
DAY 5 – CADAQUES & COSTA
BRAVA (BD)
Today we will take a scenic drive along the sparkling Costa Brava, one
of the most beautiful areas in Catalonia. We will take time to stop in
some of the most scenic places along this rocky coastline with its small
inlet beaches and fishing villages with white-washed houses. A highlight
will be a visit to the picturesque resort town of Cadaques where Dali
had his home and workshop just a short distance from the town.
DAY 6 – DEPARTURE (B)
After breakfast your tour comes to an end and you will be transferred to
the airport in Barcelona where we say our farewells.
This day to day itinerary may not necessarily run exactly in
this order.
Expect some pleasant surprises!
