DAY 1 – Saturday 5 June:
IZOLA VIA CASTELLO DI MIRAMARE (BLD)
Today we depart the Veneto and travel towards Slovenia. Our journey
takes us via Trieste where we will visit the Castello di Miramare with
its spectacular gardens and take a scenic drive along the breathtaking
coastline. Our destination is the secluded fishing village of Izola
which is of Venetian origin. A packed lunch will be provided today.
DAY 2 – Sunday 6 June:
PIRAN & BOAT TRIP (BLD)
Today we take a boat trip to visit PIRAN, the jewel of the Slovene
Mediterranean. Medieval Piran has always lived from the sea and today
this tradition continues - its people still harvest the salt and fish.
The ancient town centre is a maze of cobbled alleyways and narrow
streets filled with 13th century architecture. We will enjoy a fish
picnic lunch served on board the boat.
DAY 3 – Monday 7 June:
IZOLA (BD)
A leisure day in IZOLA – a warm and hospitable old fishing port. The
crooked narrow streets of this charming old town feature attractive and
interesting architecture from centuries past. Wander at through the
narrow alleyways, where the old stone houses divulge something of the
history of this former island settlement. With its cafes and shops plus
the spectacular panorama of the Adriatic Sea, Izola is a delight.
DAY 4 – Tuesday 8 June:
LAKE BLED & BOAT RIDE (BD)
Today we travel to the Northwestern corner of Slovenia, and the lakeside
resort of BLED nestled amidst dense pine forests and surrounded by the
dramatic snow-capped Julian Alps. Explore this picture postcard resort
with a fairytale castle, magnificent blue lake and stunning mountain
surroundings. LAKE BLED, famous as one of the loveliest in Europe,
features the tiny wooded island 'Maria of the Lake', crowned by an
idyllic baroque church amidst its glittering blue waters. We will travel
to the picturesque island abord a traditional “pietna “ boat.
DAY 5 – Wednesday 9
June: BLED CASTLE & BLED (BD)
BLED CASTLE dating back to the 11th century is the oldest castle in
Slovenia. Perched high on a cliff overlooking Lake Bled, the castle
offers spectacular views of the surrounding lake and mountains. An
afternoon at leisure to enjoy and discover the exciting town, the lake
and its vast parklands.
DAY 6 – Thursday 10
June: DEPARTURE (B)
Sadly, today after breakfast our tour comes to an end and you will be
transferred to the airport at LJUBLJANA (BRNIK Airport Terminal) for
your journey home or to other destinations. |
