DAY 1 – ARRIVAL (D)
Your tour begins in the Veneto when you are welcomed at VENICE airport.
We will make our way to our accommodation in the Venetian hinterland and
after unpacking, enjoy a great welcome dinner and get to know each
other. DAY
2 – BELLUNO VIA S.BOLDO PASS – LAKE S. CROCE (BD)
Today we will take a spectacular drive to Belluno via the S.Boldo Pass.
Picturesque Belluno, capital of Belluno province, serves as a bridge
between the two very different parts of the Veneto, with the plains to
the south and the Dolomite peaks to the north. Both are encapsulated in
the picture-postcard views to be seen from the 12th Century Porta Ruga
at the southern end of Via Mezzaterra, the main street of the old town.
Our return home will be via the picturesque alpine Lago S.Croce.
DAY 3 – WINE VALLEY
TOUR & HISTORIC ABBEY (BD) This morning we will set
off on a wine valley tour around the vineyards of the surrounding area.
Enjoy possibly the most scenic countryside of Italy with the rolling
hills of Prosecco and Cartizze. Drive leisurely through Farra di Soligo,
Col S.Martino, Guia, Guietta, S. Stefano and to Valdobbiadene, the
Cartizze capital of Italy. Later a visit to the Abbey at Follina will be
a highlight
DAY 4 – TRAVEL TO THE TYROL &
LAKE BRAIES (BD) After a leisurely breakfast we will
travel through the magnificent mountains towards the Tyrol. Our
accommodation will be in the very scenic area near the sparkling glacier
lake Lago di Braies. The entire area is known for its nature and natural
beauty. For the energetic there is a lovely walk around the far side of
the lake.
DAY 5 – THE ITALIAN ALPS – DOLOMITES – LAKE MISURINA (BD)
Today we will explore the spectacular Italian Alps – the Dolomites –
alpine villages, quaint cafes, breathtaking views. We will visit Cortina
D’Ampezzo the venue of the 1956 Winter Olympics, also called “The Pearl
of the Dolomites” for its beauty and known as Italy’s trendiest winter
and summer alpine resort. Our return journey takes us via Il Lago di
Misurina, where we will have magnificient views of the famous Dolomite
Peaks (Tre Cime di Lavaredo).
DAY 6 – BRESSANONE & BRUNICO
(BD) Visit the historic town of Bressanone, located
in the Isarco Valley and exerting an irresistible charm. It was founded
in 901 on the remains of an old settlement and is one of the main
centres of artistic interest in Alto Adige. The cathedral, built on
Romanesque foundations, is among the most notable late Baroque churches
in the region. Later enjoy time in the medieval town of Brunico,
noted for its interesting Gothic houses.
DAY 7 – TRAVEL TO LAKE GARDA
(BD) Today we will travel to Lago di Garda, the
largest and one of the most beautiful lakes in Italy. Our journey will
take us through the Alps and via Trento. We will spend time in the
lovely lakeside town of Malcesine. Our destination is the historic town
of Sirmione where we will spend the next three nights in a lovely
lakeside hotel. Time to wander and explore the town or visit the Roman
Villa before enjoying a delicious welcome dinner.
DAY 8 – GARDA LAKE TOURING (BD)
Today we will enjoy a tour of the Lake. We will visit Garda, Bardolino,
Lazise - all beautiful and historic towns on the edge of the Lake. The
region is noted for its olive oil, and Bardolino and Custoza wines.
Opportunity to visit the noted olive oil museum.
DAY 9 – VERONA (BD)
We will set off in the morning to drive to Verona, the romantic city of
Romeo and Julietta and a great historical city which was colonised by
the Romans in 89BC. Stylish shops and cafes sit amidst the remains of
Roman monuments. The main attraction, the Arena Amphitheatre, can take
crowds of up to 20,000 during the opera season.
DAY 10 – TRAVEL TO LAKE COMO
(BD) We say farewell to Lago di Garda and travel to
the beautiful Lago di Como where our accommodation will be in a lakeside
hotel. Nearby is the wonderful Villa del Balbianello, built in 1787 on
the site of a Franciscan monastery. Enjoy a scenic walk or relax in the
garden and admire the breathtaking panorama before our welcome dinner.
DAY 11 –
COMO (BD) Visit the town of Como, capital of the
province and located at the southern end of the lake. Wander the streets
of this walled old town, visit the famous Cathedral, the Tempio Voltiano
and enjoy Piazza Cavour near the harbour and where the town’s life
centres. An elegant city with lovely shops, restaurants and cafes to
enjoy. DAY
12 – BELLAGIO (BD) Bellagio is renowned for its
panoramic lake views and lovely lakeside walkways leading to beautiful
villas and gardens. The village has narrow stone lanes and stairways
with shops, cafes and restaurants. One of the best ways to experience
Bellagio is to relax and enjoy the lakeside ambiance. Perhaps visit
Villa Melzi with its sculptures and garden or Villa Serbelloni Park with
its 18th century garden and wonderful views of the lake. This village is
a real delight.
DAY 13 – MENAGGIO & BOAT TRIP
(BD) Today we visit the charming village of Menaggio
one of the most popular resorts along the western side of the lake.
Enjoy a boat trip on the lake to see some of the other lovely villages
and visit Villa Carlotta an elegant 18th century villa set amidst
beautiful gardens and housing a collection of wonderful sculptures.
DAY 14 – DEPARTURE
MILAN MALPENSA (B) Sadly it is time for farewells.
Today your tour comes to an end and you will be driven to MILAN MALPENSA
airport for the journey home or to other destinations. This day to day itinerary may not
necessarily run exactly in this order. Expect some pleasant
surprises... Arrivederci!
