DAY 1 – ARRIVAL (D)
Your tour begins in the Veneto when you are welcomed at VENICE airport.
We will make our way to our accommodation in the Venetian hinterland and
after unpacking, enjoy a great welcome party and get to know each other.
DAY 2 – ASOLO & WINE
VALLEY (BLD)
Known as “The Town of a Hundred Horizons” and as the “Pearl of Veneto”,
ASOLO is one of the most beautiful and enchanting small-sized historic
centres in Italy. Many poets, writers, painters and wayfarers have
fallen in love with Asolo. Among them: Robert Browning, Eleonora Duse,
the Poet Giosue Carducci, the Composer and Musician Gian Francesco
Malipiero and the English Explorer Freya Stark. Lunch will be in a
typical taverna in the historic centre. In the afternoon we take a
leisurely drive through the very scenic hills of the prosecco wine
valleys where we will visit an ancient watermill and enjoy a wine
tasting.
DAY 3 – MURANO – BURANO
- TORCELLO (BLD)
An exciting day when we will visit the islands of Venice – MURANO
renowned for exquisite glassmaking and its famous glass museum together
with important art galleries; BURANO with its colourful painted houses
and traditional lace making, TORCELLO the birthplace of Venice with its
Veneto-Byzantine cathedral founded in the 7th century. We will enjoy
lunch in a famous seafood restaurant on this island.
DAY 4 – TRIESTE –
CASTELLO DI MIRAMARE (BLD)
We visit this grand port city famous for its ancient palazzi, old Jewish
Ghetto, book and antique shops, ancient taverns and typical restaurants.
Trieste is also known as the coffee capital of Italy. We will visit the
Castello di Miramare with its spectacular gardens and take a scenic
drive along the breathtaking coastline. A packed lunch will be provided.
DAY 5 – TRAVEL TO LAKE
GARDA (BD)
Today after breakfast we will travel to LAKE GARDA, the largest and most
beautiful lake in Italy. Our journey will take us through the Alps and
via Feltre and Trento. We will settle into our accommodation in the
historic centre of Sirmione where we will spend the next three nights.
Time to wander and explore the town or visit the Roman Villa and museum
before enjoying a delicious welcome dinner.
DAY 6 – GARDA LAKE
TOURING (BD)
Today we will enjoy a tour of the Lake. We will visit Malcesine, Garda,
Bardolino, Lazise - all beautiful and historic towns on the edge of the
Lake. The region is noted for its olive oil, and Bardolino and Custoza
wines.
DAY 7 – VERONA (BD)
We will set off in the morning to drive to VERONA, the romantic city of
Romeo and Julietta and a great historical city which was colonised by
the Romans in 89BC. Stylish shops and cafes sit amidst the remains of
Roman monuments. The main attraction, the Arena Amphitheatre, can take
crowds of up to 20,000 during the opera season.
DAY 8 – TRAVEL TO VENETO
VIA BASSANO (BD)
Today we return to the Veneto and enroute we will visit the town of
Bassano del Grappa in the Province of Vicenza. The town is important for
its ceramics, the Palladian designed bridge spanning the Brenta River
and leading into the Medieval and Renaissance historic centre. A taste
of grappa is a must in this town which is the home of this popular
Italian spirit.
DAY 9 – VENEZIA (BD)
VENICE and what a wonderful day it will be. We will walk down Lista di
Spagna, through Calli and over the bridges to Rialto and San Marco. You
will have enough time to wander around freely and take in the wonderful
atmosphere of this magical city.
DAY 10 – THE ITALIAN
ALPS – DOLOMITES (BLD)
Today we drive to the breathtaking Italian Alps through CORTINA
D’AMPEZZO the venue of the 1956 Winter Olympics, also called “The Pearl
of the Dolomites” for its beauty and known as Italy’s trendiest winter
and summer alpine resort. Our return journey takes us via the beautiful
Auronzo Lake. A packed lunch will be provided today.
DAY 11 – TREVISO
“VECCHIE OSTERIE” & CONEGLIANO (BD)
Ancient churches and frescoed houses, hushed cloisters and bustling
markets, slow-flowing canals midst grassy banks and flowered gardens;
picturesque tavernas with tempting cuisine, craftsman workshops and
elegant boutiques; the city walls, Piazza dei Signori, the Palazzo dei
Trecento, the frescoes of Tomaso da Modena. The River Sile… Treviso is
all this, and even more. An enticing city, a fantastic voyage through
history, art and the Veneto culture. We will visit the old taverns,
having a Prosecco and a Cichetto in every osteria. An afternoon in the
town of CONEGLIANO where the annual art festival will be in full swing.
DAY 12 – ANTIQUE MARKET
& CONEGLIANO ART (BLD)
This morning we will visit a nearby antique market.before enjoying some
food and prosecco amidst the paintings in Claudio’s studio courtyard in
the historic centre of Conegliano. The afternoon will be at leisure to
wander through the cobblestone streets and alleys of the old town, to
admire the works of artists from all over Italy and to enjoy the festive
atmosphere.
DAY 13 – DEPARTURE (B)
Sadly it is time for farewells. Today our tour comes to an end and you
will be transferred to VENICE airport for your journey home or to other
destinations.
This day to day itinerary may not necessarily run exactly in
this order.
